I first met Karen and Justin at the beginning of Summer 2014 at the Toronto Music Gardens for their Engagement photo shoot. We had a great time getting to know one another that day. As time crept up towards their wedding date in August, I was very excited to capture their wedding memories at the Distillery District in Toronto.
I began my day meeting with Justin and his groomsmen at a private apartment in the city for some shots of the boys! We then went over to Karen and Justin’s condo where Karen and her bridesmaids we’re getting ready. Things ran smoothly, despite a fire alarm that went off, to no avail. Phew! All the ladies were glammed up and looking amazing! To get from the condo to the wedding, Karen and her bridesmaids took a cab. One of my favourite images from the day is of Karen hailing a cab! I couldn’t help but think of this moment as a similar clip from the popular TV show Sex and the City. Beautiful ladies, a bride, and a cab! So fun! The day had started, smiles were wide and next up was a beautiful and touching “reveal” moment!
Once we arrived at the Distillery District, the next image I was setting my lens on was so cute – Justin holding a huge bouquet of white balloons waiting for his beautiful bride, with bystanders smiling and waiting for all of the excitement too! He stood in her direction, completely blocked by the balloons and there she came, with a matching bouquet! Once we arranged them together, the balloons went up, and ta daaaa, they saw one another!
Next came the wedding ceremony! The ceremony took place at the Thompson Landry Building, a beautiful historic building that housed some amazing pieces of artwork. All eyes were on Karen and Justin though, as they shared a short but sweet ceremony to exchange their vows. Guests were treated to refreshing cocktails and delicious hors douvres at the building opposite the Landry, another gorgeous art gallery transformed by Status Events into a dreamy, intimate reception venue. Meanwhile, I whisked the bride and groom away for a few more photos before they settled in with their guests.
Thank you Karen and Justin for a great day! We throughly enjoyed covering your wedding day! All the best for a wonderful marriage together!
